Fijian rugby student Aporosa Derenalagi has been arrested in Tokyo after allegedly stealing a taxi.
The 23-year-old reportedly threw the taxi drivers smartphone out of the car before making off with the vehicle as the driver went to retrieve his phone. It is reported that he then drove the vehicle for an hour and a half.
A student Ryutsu Keizai University in Ibaraki, Derenalagi is a rugby player for the institute as a Fijian U18 representative.
Derenalagi last played for his University team in a training match against Hosei University on 23 June.
As of yet the university are yet to make a comment on the incident but do have the 46th Kanto University Junior Championships are due to start on Sunday 1 September which Derenalagi was to have played a role in.
